Why use myhelper?
Two words: simple, inexpensive!
Hirers
If you have a job that needs doing, you become a hirer. As a hirer you pay a very small fee much lower than the regular fees charged by the classified section in newspapers.
You will benefit from the growing list of helpers to perform any reasonable task you require; we don’t see a limitation to the types of jobs you can place on the site.
Helpers
If you want to do some extra work or earn some extra money, you become a helper. You pay nothing no matter how many work preferences you put on myhelper.
As myhelper grows, you will be able to find work easily and quickly.
For both Hirers and Helpers, we send you an email alert for each match. Our Feedback (link to Feedback section) ratings will help you to make your choice.

Do I need to register to be able to use myhelper?
You can browse or search jobs and browse or search help without registration. However, you will not be able to contact helpers or send private messages to hirers. You also can’t view or leave feedback. It is simple and free to register with myhelper and only takes a few minutes.
Important note for hirers: you cannot contact a helper without being registered and without having a job listed on the site. Once you have a job on myhelper, you are able to invite someone to apply for your job and begin to communicate with them.
As a helper, you have the ability to ask questions publicly. Once you have applied for the job your messages will become private messages.
We also work hard to keep profiles private and you can’t directly contact anyone without registration. (See privacy policy for more information). All that will be visible will be the work preference.

Someone has applied for my job, what do I do next?
Once you have communicated with the helper and you have decided to give them the job you need to click the 'Offer' button when viewing their job application so they can be informed that they have been officially offered the job. The helper then needs to click the 'Accept' button whilst viewing their job application so that the hirer knows that they have officially accepted the job.
Once a job has been accepted it is removed from the list of 'open' jobs that can be searched for.
Once the job is completed you can then give feedback to each other.

What are work preferences?
Work preferences describe who you are, what you can do, your qualifications and where you want to work. This is the most important part of myhelper.
Anyone who visits myhelper is able to see your skills, and therefore potentially hire you.
Our matching system picks up your job category and location, where you would like to work, and sends you an email to notify you of any jobs you may want to apply for.
What do I need to do?
- In the description area, describe your skills. The more detail you give in description, such as how long you have been doing this kind of work or your specialty, the more it will help you in successfully obtaining work.
- Include any qualifications, courses etc. which may be relevant to a hirer.
- Attach photos of previous work you have completed; people like to see your work. Please understand that we only allow images to be uploaded at this point due to the high number of viruses and bugs transferred via documents.
- You can add as many work preferences as you like. Add your different skills in different categories - the more skills the more matches you will receive.
- You can edit your work preferences as many times as you want. Just start somewhere and play with the wording later.
- Try to use a title which describes the skill well. The better the title, the better the chance of you standing out.

About feedback
Myhelper is a community based website. We aim to bring people together – those that want help, and those that can offer help. An important part of the site is our feedback system. Both hirers and helpers are invited to rate their experience. This makes it easier for other users to choose who they would like to work with when offering or accepting a job.
With our circular feedback system, you get to see who are the best workers, and who are the best employers.

How does the feedback system work?
Once a job is completed, whether you're the hirer or helper, you should give feedback.
To do this, the job needs to be in the completed state on the system. In other words, the job needs to be:
- offered to helper and
- the helper needs to have accepted the job.
Unless these two steps are completed, the feedback is unable to be completed.
When a job is completed the system takes you automatically to the feedback page.
You then rate the person, and comment on their service eg. Punctual, friendly, excellent worker, great to work for, highly recommend etc.
Myhelper uses a star system. The number of stars displayed is an average of the completed jobs and feedback received. The more positive feedback received, the more stars will be shown (up to a maximum of 5 stars).
This works as a reference base for you. Many people will hire a person or do a job for someone based on the comments in the feedback.

What if a person does not change the job status to completed? How do I give/receive feedback?
We encourage you to ask the other person to change the status to completed. It is in both of your interests to get as much feedback as possible. The more comments on your feedback the more people will trust and use your services.

How do job matches work?
Jobs are matched by work preference, job category, and location. We suggest you ensure you enter each job in the correct category and as a helper your work preferences are also in the correct category or the one closest to it.

Why does myhelper charge the hirer?
Research tells us that searching for help takes quite a bit of time: looking through the paper or yellow pages, calling around, spending time on the phone and worrying if the right choice has been made after all.
The second part of our research shows that help is often only around the corner, which means you don’t have to wait long, and you get someone local, often for a better rate than you would pay otherwise.
Feedback is another big factor. As myhelper grows, you will have greater choice of helpers with lots of feedback available so you can make a more informed choice.
Our rates are much lower than placing an ad in the local paper. A few dollars spent on finding a helper safely, fast and at a better cost is an offer hard to beat.
